27/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - A majority of German economists support TTIP and CETA. According to a survey carried out by the German economic research Institute, Ifo, and unveiled on Wednesday, 27 July, the majority of university professors and economists support the free trade agreements between the EU and the US (TTIP) and between the EU and Canada (CETA). Almost 72% of the 124 professors questioned support the CETA and almost two thirds of them support the TTIP. Two thirds of the participants think that it is “very probable” or “probable” that the CETA will be concluded (at a formal level with its signing and ratification, Ed). On the other hand, a majority of German economists expect there will be a breakdown in the TTIP negotiations. Only 28% of them think that the TTIP negotiations are “likely” to be concluded.
