11/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - Anti-TTIP publicity stunts in Brussels. TTIP Game Over activists are opposed to a EU/US (TTIP) free trade agreement as highlighted the day before the 14th round of negotiations begin this week (11-15 July) in Brussels. On Sunday evening 10 July, the Écran de fume collective “pirated” the advertising screen located at the top of a tall building on De Brouckère Square in Brussels and for 15 minutes replaced the usual advertising for the Coca-Cola fizzy drink, symbol of the multinationals, with a message from the TTIP Game Over initiative calling for an end to the free trade negotiations. On Monday 11 July, 70 activists from the Ensemble zoologique pour la libération de la nature organised a “decisive but humorous act of civil disobedience” disturbing the opening of the 14th round of TTIP negotiations. The activists had previously managed to break through the security barrier for the secret meeting at the Albert Borschette conference centre and were disguised as animals and armed with vegetables, flowers, leaves and branches. Nonetheless, they did not manage to breach the secrecy of the meeting. (EH)
