20/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Muiznieks criticises lack of dialogue with the European Commissioners. When he was asked about the EU/Turkey agreement, which seeks to provide some sort of solution to the migration crisis, Nils Muiznieks made an allusion to the European Commission's role in this crisis. Mr Muiznieks was speaking during his presentation of his 2015 report to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. On Monday 18 April in Strasbourg, the Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe said that he had had “good contacts with the European Parliament and sufficient access with the operational levels at the Commission”. He also said that his contacts with the Agency for Fundamental Rights were “good” but that “the College of Commissioners was more difficult to access” and that he was not sure “that they had been very sensitive to what I had to say”. He explained that “they certainly read the newspapers” but that he would like to have had “more discussions with them”. (VL)
