Brussels, 20/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU agri-food exports were worth €10.2 billion in February 2016, well above export values in January 2016 and slightly above exports in February 2015, according to figures released by the European Commission on Monday 18 April.
Highest increases in monthly export values (February 2016 compared with February 2015) were recorded for the USA (+15%) and China (+13.5%), while the most significant reductions were in export values to North African countries (Algeria and Egypt). The highest increases were achieved for wine and spirits, pork, vegetables, olive oil. However, monthly export values in February 2016 compared to February 2015 went down in particular for wheat and other cereals, and for hides and skins.
In February 2016, agri-food imports to the EU increased to €8.9 billion, from €8.4 billion in February 2015. The highest increase in monthly imports was from Argentina, while imports from India fell. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
