05/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - EPP Group wants Mossack Fonseca to answer to European Parliament regarding Panama Papers. According to Burkhard Balz (EPP, Germany), the EPP Group wants the Panama government and law firm Mossack Fonseca, which is close to the Panama authorities and has helped numerous Europeans cover up assets (see EUROPE 11524), to testify in the European Parliament's TAXE II committee on unfair tax practices. “It is intolerable that both law firms and entire countries use living at the expense of other states as a business model”, Balz said in a press release. He added that on Monday 18 April the political groups will have to take stock of the impact the Panama Papers will have on the work of the European Parliament. (MB)
