15/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - Ambassadors expected to adopt sanctions against Russia on Friday 18 December. On Tuesday 15 December, the president of the European Council, Donald Tusk, said: “I have asked the Presidency to put on the agenda of COREPER this coming Friday (18 December, Ed.) the proposal to roll over sanctions on Russia for another six months. This will be the direct consequence of the March European Council conclusions (see EUROPE 11279, Ed.), according to which the duration of the restrictive measures against the Russian Federation should be clearly linked to the complete implementation of the Minsk agreements…” as he explained in his invitation letter for the European Summit of 17 and 18 December. A diplomatic source says the sanctions against Russia and the implementation of the Minsk agreements could be a “very brief discussion point” at the European Summit. (CG)
