20/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - MEPs suggest changes to Eurovignette Directive. Thirteen MEPs from the EPP, S&D, EFDD, Greens/EFA, GUE/NGL and ALDE groups sent a letter to Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc on Wednesday 18 November, calling on her to revise the Eurovignette Directive as soon as possible and introduce new legislation on tolls for lorries, as part of the 2016 road transport strategy to reduce CO2 emissions. The MEPs criticise the temporary vignettes as “ineffective and discriminatory”. They also call for the external costs of freight to be integrated and for the European Commission to ensure fair competition among the various modes of transport. (PH)
