EU condemns new attacks

Brussels, 20/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 19 November, the European Union condemned the recent attacks in the Middle East left five dead and several injured. It said these “both terrible and painful reminders of the volatile and violent reality on the ground”.

“Nothing can justify terrorism. Too many innocent people have died in this current wave of violence”, said a spokesperson for the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, adding that these attacks only “highlight further the need for all sides to do their utmost to prevent further violence”, and to take the necessary steps to restore a political perspective for the solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

On 19 November alone, two Israelis were killed in a stabbing attack in Tel Aviv, at the time of a prayer service, and an Israeli, an American and a Palestinian were shot dead in the West Bank. Since the start of October, 16 Israelis and 85 Palestinians have been killed in violent attacks. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
