28/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Mogherini to participate in international meeting on Syria. On Wednesday 28 October, Catherine Ray, a spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, announced that Mogherini had been invited, and had accepted, to participate in the meeting on Syria that will take place in Vienna on Friday 30 October. “The EU is extremely involved as regards the situation in Syria in order to get everyone around the table”, Ray stated. Around ten participants are expected - including Iran, Russia, the USA, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and France. The aim of the meeting is to define the multilateral framework needed for a fruitful transition in Syria that would allow the formation of an executive of which Bashar al-Assad would not be the head, according to a spokesperson from the US Department of State.
