Brussels, 28/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 28 October, the European Commission said that significant progress had been made in discussions between the institutions and Greece.
This Thursday, the Greek authorities are to present the national parliament with new legislation designed to unblock a sub-tranche of aid of €2 billion euros. “The technical teams will conclude their assessment shortly and it will be up to the member states to decide” on this payment, said Commission spokesperson Annika Breidthardt.
With a delay having built up in the implementation of these measures, it would appear that the aim is now an agreement at the meeting of the Eurogroup of 9 November. The Vice-President of the Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, said on Tuesday that the first monitoring mission of the institutions would not be concluded by 15 November.
The conclusions of the Eurogroup are quite clear: recapitalisation of the banks must take place before the first monitoring mission, but no later than 15 November, Dombrovskis told an interview with Skai TV. (Original version in French by Elodie Lamer)
