24/08/2015 (Agence Europe) - Xylella: meeting of European experts on Friday 28 August. On Friday 28 August, the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health will meet up to assess the situation involving the spread of the Xylella fastidiosa bacteria, following the discovery of the disease in both France and the buffer zone set up in Puglia, Italy. According to a European Commission spokesman on Monday 24 August, this meeting will provide an opportunity for examining the most appropriate monitoring measures and the publication of the pathogenicity tests. The spokesman indicated that the Commission would be looking at possible measures to help farmers that have been affected but also highlighted that no decision had as yet been taken in this connection.
