29/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - €560 million EU-Malawi cooperation programme signed. In Brussels on Friday 29 May, representatives from the EU and Malawi signed the national indicative programme which will frame development cooperation between the two parties until 2020. With a budget of €560 million for the 2014-2020 period, this programme will focus on governance, sustainable agriculture, secondary education and vocational training. These focus areas for aid are in line with Malawi's priorities. The cooperation will be financed by the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), the financial envelope of the Cotonou Agreement linking the EU and the 79 states of the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) Group. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the joint ACP-EU Council of Ministers meeting. (Aminata Niang)
