22/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - French government reacts to being sent to Court of Justice over VAT on e-books. In a press release, the French ministers for culture (Aurelie Filippetti) and small business (Fleur Pellerin) have reacted to the European Commission's decision to send France to the European Court of Justice over its reduced-rate VAT on e-books. The two ministers say that France levies reduced VAT on both e-books and normal books in order to ensure equal access to culture irrespective of the medium. They say that France will defend the principle of tax neutrality at the European Court of Justice in order to prevent an obstacle being placed in the way of e-books as the European publishing market is in the process of being restructured.
