05/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - WTO - EU provides €75,000 for participation of LDCs at the ministerial conference. The EU has contributed €75,000 to the trust fund created to meet the travel costs to the 8th WTO (World Trade Organisation) Ministerial Conference in Geneva, 15-17 December, of delegations (a minister plus two high-level officials) of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). This takes the EU contribution to the fund to €13 million. “The EU will continue providing support to the Least Developed Countries with the aim of increasing their participation in, and understanding of, the WTO. Trade can play a major role in development and poverty reduction and the EU believes that delivering on long-standing requests of the LDCs in the context of the Doha Development Agenda must remain a priority for the WTO”, said EU Ambassador to the WTO Angelos Pangratis.
