Brussels, 05/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - Members of the European Parliament (EP) and national MPs meet in the chamber of the EP in Brussels on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 December to debate social cohesion and demographic development issues in the context of the economic and financial crisis and discussion on EU regional policy after 2013.
Debate in this inter-parliamentary meeting on “Social cohesion and demographic development in a sustainable Europe” will be conducted in three separate panels on social cohesion and regional development, the economic and budgetary impact of demographic change, and the social implications of employment and demographic trends.
The plenary session will be jointly chaired by EP President Jerzy Buzek, Ewa Kopacz, Marshal of the Sejm (Speaker of the lower house of the Polish parliament) and Bogdan Borusewicz, Marshal of the Polish Senate. (LC/transl.rt)
