20/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - Speaking during the first European air transport regulation forum on 15 October in Florence, the director-general of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), Mike Ambrose, criticised European governance in the aviation arena. He particularly focused on the recent regulation governing the conduct of security investigations following civil aviation accidents and explained that, in general, the measures proposed by the European Commission did not respond to the objectives and often consisted of ambiguous and confusing legislation, leading to unnecessary costs to the sector. Also referring to economic reasons, the Association of European Airlines (AEA) called for a rapid resolution of the European aviation airspace fragmentation problem. Speaking at the meeting of company member executive directors, the association explained that completing the Single European Sky project, which modernises air traffic control, is “a more urgent necessity” than ever.
