Brussels, 20/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - The award goes to: Portuguese hotel Jardim Atantico (Madeira), Arjowiggins Graphic (Paris), a producer of recycled paper, and The Sara Lee Corporation-Sanex (a multinational of consumer products based in the Netherlands).
During the evening of Monday 18 October, in Brussels, the above three companies were awarded the EU Ecolabel Communication Award for excelling in their promotion of the small 12-star flower logo - the first in the services category, and the other two, equally, in the products category (EUROPE 10238). The name of the award winners were unveiled by Janez Potoènik, European Environment Commissioner.
These fashioners of the Ecolabel's notoriety are important for two things - for the use they make of the logo, which guarantees the environmental-friendliness of their products and services throughout their life cycle, and also, in particular, for the efforts that they deploy to heighten public awareness. A panel composed of environmental and communication experts and representatives of the European Commission selected the winners among 13 companies and organisations nominated. (A.N./transl.jl)
