Brussels, 20/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - In a report adopted on Wednesday 20 October by 487 votes in favour, 162 against, with 33 abstentions, MEPs called for the introduction of a minimum income system in all EU member states in an effort to fight poverty. This vote took place in a backdrop to the United Nations International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17 October and the European Year against Poverty 2010.
Poverty affects around 85 million people, 17% of the European population....
