09/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - Olivier Chastel, the Belgian secretary of state for European affairs, called together the EU ministers and secretaries of state for European affairs to Brussels on 8 July to discuss the priorities of the Belgian EU Presidency and relations between the Council and European Parliament. On this last point, Chastel above all informed the 27 EU member states of the meeting that the secretaries of state for European affairs of the presidential trio (Spain, Belgium and Hungary) will be holding on 12 July with EP Secretary General Klaus Welle. The Belgian Presidency hopes to hold an informal meeting every month to take stock of the legislative dossiers on the Parliament table. Chastel thus hopes to create “a good precedent in interinstitutional relations”. (H.B./transl.jl)
