14/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - Swiss businessman Max Göldi arrived in Switzerland during the night of Sunday to Monday, after spending four months in prison in Libya for violating Libyan immigration rules. The case was at the centre of a diplomatic row which erupted after a son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was arrested in Geneva in 2008. Göldi's release came after Switzerland and Libya, and also Spain and Germany, acting as guarantors, signed an action plan in Tripoli on Sunday that should lead to the normalisation of relations between the two countries. This agreement provides for a court of arbitration in Germany to shed light on the arrest of Hannibal Gaddafi by Geneva police. In the agreement, Switzerland again sends its apologies for the “illegal publication” of official police photos of Hannibal Gaddafi. Bern has undertaken to charge those responsible for the leak (see EUROPE 10158). (B.C./transl.rt)
