14/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - Adopting conclusions in Luxembourg on Monday 14 June on the international division of labour, the EU Council decided to adjust the November 2009 operational framework on the effectiveness of aid to (1) add a second introductory paragraph on the division of labour in which it says it is crucial to improve the EU's complementarily and coordination to significantly reduce the segmentation of aid among countries and deal with issues ignored by aid; and (2) replace a section in Chapter I.E. (Starting division of labour at international level) with “Division of labour at international level: Reducing aid segmentation and donor proliferation”. Donors should share and exchange information about geographical concentration and national aid priorities to map out the various options for improving the efficiency and impact of EU aid. Donors will meet annually at expert OECD/ Development Assistance Committee groups and inform the Council of the outcome of their annual meetings. (G.B./transl.fl)
