23/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - Late Tuesday 23 March, the WTO dispute settlement body was to hand in its final report on the complaint filed by the United States against EU subsidies to aircraft manufacturer Airbus (DS 316). This long expected ruling is the first chapter of a row between Brussels and Washington, before the final verdict of WTO relating to an EU complaint against US aid to the aircraft maker Boeing (DS 353), due in June. Although Tuesday's ruling, initially confidential, condemns the EU, stock cannot be taken of the cross complaints until the WTO has given its verdict on the outstanding complaint against the US. The final settlement of these two cases could result in a negotiated arrangement. (E.H./transl.jl)
