15/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - A regional conference on justice in the Euro-Mediterranean area will be held in Brussels on 19 October under the EuroMed Justice II programme. Financed by the EU, the conference, which is the second after the inaugural conference in June 2008, provides for discussion within thematic working groups (access to justice and legal aid, resolution of crossborder disputes over family matters, and criminal and penitentiary law). It will allow stock to be taken of action carried out in just over a year in Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria and with the Palestinian Authority. It will also cover the coming programme until January 2011. EuroMed Justice II was launched as a framework for cooperation in the field of justice in the Euro-Mediterranean region and allocated a budget of €5 million. It is implemented by a consortium led by the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA). (F.B./transl.jl)
