09/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 5 October European Anti-terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerkove called on member states to provide Europol with more information on continuing police cases. “Things are getting better because member states are communicating more and more live information, that is to say on on-going cases, to Europol,” he said. He noted, however, that information is shared with Europol only when two or more states are involved. “The problem is that at the start of investigations it is difficult to know how many member states will be involved in the case. Europol should, then, be informed as quickly as possible,” he argued. He regretted that, up until now, Europol has only worked with one joint investigating team. (B.C./transl.rt)
