Spain prepares to chair European Union in first half of 2010

Brussels, 11/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Spanish prime minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is planning to make an official visit of the Middle East this autumn, explained the Spanish foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos during a visit this week to Egypt, Syria, Israel and the Palestinian Territories. The prime minister's trip will probably take place around 14 October in preparation for Spain taking over the Presidency of the Council of the EU on the first of January 2010.
