26/08/2009 (Agence Europe) - Dalia Grybauskaite, President of Lithuania, reaffirmed on Wednesday 26 August after her meeting with the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek (EPP-ED, Poland), the need to have a common energy supply security policy in Europe. “The Lisbon Treaty partially answers to that question” but its setting in place is solely a matter of “political will” on the part of member states, the former budget commissioner said. Answering questions put to him by the press, Mr Buzek confirmed that the decision on including the vote for renewal of José Manuel Barosso's tenure on the agenda of the next plenary (15-17 September) will be taken “in coming days” (EUROPE 9962). He gave his assurance that he would meet the chairpersons of the political groups individually. They are to come to a decision on 10 September. (A.By./transl.jl)
