27/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - This year, the European Regions and Cities' “Open Days” week will be the biggest event in the world focusing on regional policy and takes place on 5-8 October in Brussels. This is the seventh event of this kind and is organised by the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Commission's Directorate General “Regional Policy” under the title, “Global Challenges, European Responses”. The Open Day will cover regional policy in the context of the economic crisis, global warming, regional cooperation and the impact of future European cohesion policy. Seminars and workshops will focus on first impressions of the implementation of the three hundred and forty-five 2007-13 programmes. The latter benefit from total funding of €500bn.
