Agenda of constitutive session of new Parliament

Brussels, 09/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - The new European Parliament elected in June 2009 will meet for the first time on Tuesday 14 July, in Strasbourg. The first day will be devoted to the various ballots required for electing the president and vice-presidents. On Wednesday, the first debates will be on the results of the June European Council and the Czech Presidency (from 9.00am to 10.15am) and on the programme of the Swedish EU Presidency (10.15am to 12.30pm). Half way through the day, the Parliament will elect its quaestors and decide on the numerical composition of its parliamentary committees. During the afternoon, three debates will be devoted to the situation in Iran, China and Honduras (with Council and Commission statements). The constitutive meetings of the parliamentary committee will begin on Thursday 16 July at 10.30am. (O.J./transl.jl)
