06/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - At the end of June, US Ambassador Daniel Fried, the special envoy for the question of closing down the Guantanamo detention centre, forwarded to Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht a request for taking in former detainees, the Ministry said. The minister noted the request and a decision on the matter will be taken after an in-depth study has been made and after consultation within the government, a press release states. (B.C./transl.jl)
