23/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - Inspired by the results of the previous Swedish Presidency of the EU Council, Amnesty International trusts fresh progress will be made in the field of human rights. For the second half of the year, the organisation for the defence of human rights is hoping for: - adoption of the new anti-discrimination directive, decisive steps towards the proper implementation of the EU guidelines on torture, utilisation of the window of opportunity to move towards standard setting in corporate accountability, and the setting of clear signals on human rights protection in the Stockholm Programme.
