11/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - According to the latest figures, which are still provisional and which were published by European Parliament services on Thursday 11 June, the turnout rate at the European elections in June 2009 was 43.24% over the whole of the 27 EU member states. The size of the political groups has only slightly changed in recent days: 264 for the EPP, 161 for the PES, 80 for the Liberals and Democrats, 53 for the Greens/EFA, 35 for UEN, 32 for GUE/NGL, and 18 for IND/DEM. The Parliament services place 93 elected representatives in a group called “Others”. This is composed of about 20 seats for the Italian Social Democrat Left, 25 British Conservatives and nationalist far right representatives. (O.J./transl.jl)
