Ganley withdrawal means “No” campaign in Ireland loses figurehead

Brussels, 10/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - The chances of seeing the Lisbon Treaty approved by the Irish in the second referendum expected in September or October have increased significantly since 9 June, with the announcement by Irish businessman and founder of “Libertas” Declan Ganley that he was retiring from politics and would no longer campaign against the new treaty. “I will not be involved in the second Lisbon campaign,” he stated.
