03/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - Czech Prime Minister Jan Fischer, his Slovakian counterpart Robert Fico and European Commissioner Vladimir Špidla (Social Affairs) were notable participants at the fourth plenary session of the European Nuclear Energy Forum, which was held in Prague on 28 and 29 May. The work of the Forum was given over to the issue of outlets, risks and transparency in the nuclear energy sector. On the basis of the strategy of the European Commission for the integrated energy and climate policy, Mr Špidla stressed the importance of nuclear power in low-carbon electricity production and the need to develop a more advanced framework for nuclear safety and security and for non-proliferation.
