08/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - New research presented in Copenhagen on 26 April 2009 at the 44th AGM of the European Association for Study of the Liver (EASL) demonstrates that diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure increase the risk of dying of hepatitis C. Other research shows that patient survival rate after a liver transplant is not affected by HIV infection, but patients infected with both HIV and hepatitis have lower survival rates than patients with hepatitis C alone.
