27/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 27 April, the Council of Ministers of the EU adopted without debate, the Draft Amending Budget (5/2009) for the 2008 surplus. This could lead to a €1.796bn reduction in the overall contribution of member states to the funding of the EU budget in 2009. The European Parliament still has to adopt this text. (L.C./trans/rh)
