Commission encouraged that first round of presidential elections pass off well, but remains vigilant for second round

Brussels, 24/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cautiously welcomed the fact that the fist round of the presidential election in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) passed off satisfactorily, but warned the Skopje authorities that the final EU assessment would only be made after the second round, scheduled for 5 April.
