Parliament and Council still divided over working time - new conciliation meeting on 1 April

Brussels, 18/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday evening 17 March in Brussels, the European Parliament and Council formally opened conciliation talks on the Working Time Directive. They were unable to obtain a compromise in the night session. Parliament and the Council now have six weeks (a deadline that can be extended by a maximum of two weeks) to attempt to obtain an agreement on this dossier.
