24/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, on the sidelines of the External Relations Council, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski called on member states to support a special fund to finance the conservation of the Nazi extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, in the south of Poland. “I called on my colleagues to support the Foundation for the Conservation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp. If the Foundation raised €120 million, it could use between €6 and 7 million every year for the conservation of the camp,” he told press. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has already written to EU heads of state and government, Sikorski said. (H.B./transl.rt)
