19/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on Thursday 19 February, the European Parliament adopted (1) the own-initiative report by Jean-Louis Cottigny (PES, France) on the application of directive 2002/14/EC establishing a general framework for informing and consulting workers in the European Community (598 votes to 21, with 32 abstentions), and (2) the own initiative report by Patrizia Toia (ALDE, Italy) on the social economy (580 votes to 27, with 44 abstentions).
