08/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 8 December, the Energy Council adopted a general orientation on the proposal of the Commission to revise directive 2005/35/EC, the so-called "eco-design" directive, to extend it to products linked to energy other than energy-consuming products, such as insulators. This revision will lay down minimum requirements to be respected for the marketing of these products and for the benchmark environmental performances, corresponding to the most efficient products on the market. The Council will adopt its common position after the first-reading opinion of the European Parliament, which is anticipated for April 2009. (E.H./trans.fl)
