Louis Michel, concerned by deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calls on Israel to comply with international humanitarian law

Brussels, 01/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - European Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Louis Michel has expressed his increasing concern for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza caused by the continued closure of the Gaza crossings, and has called on Israeli authorities to allow humanitarian workers free access to the people of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

His comments came on Monday 1 December, the day when a Libyan vessel was prevented by the Israeli navy from delivering...
