28/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - With food insecurity and chronic malnutrition becoming more severe in Haiti, the European Commission decided, on 28 November, to allocate €6 million worth of further emergency food and nutritional aid to help the 1 million Haitians. The Commission's humanitarian aid arm, ECHO, will shortly open an office in Port-au-Prince to monitor the situation on the ground. (A.N./transl.rt)
