20/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 19 November, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of the Fantuzzi Group of Luxembourg by Terex Corporation of the US. Fantuzzi makes container handling equipment while Terex makes equipment for a range of industries. The Commission examination of the proposed transaction showed an overlap between the parties' activities in the reach stacker sector (reach stackers are small vehicles which lift containers over short distances and stack them together at terminals and ports). Since this overlap is limited, the Commission approved the merger, concluding that it was not a threat to competition in the European Economic Area (EEA). (C.D./transl.rt)
