03/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission was formally notified of the acquisition of significant stakes of the Fortis Group by BNP Parisbas SA on Monday 3 November. The French bank said in a press release at the start of October that it would buy 75% of Fortis Banque SA (Belgium), all of Fortis Assurance Belgique and 67% of Fortis Banque Luxembourg for €9 million in shares and €5.5 million cash.
