27/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of members of the European Parliament, the members of the temporary committee on climate of the European Parliament, will be in Moscow until 29 October to prepare for the UN conference of Poznan (Poland, 1-12 December). This delegation, led by Vittorio Prodi (ALDE, Italy), will meet members of the Duma, representatives of the Russian government and civil society. "The fact that the Russian prime minister has recently asked his government to draft policies and measures to reduce the energy intensity of the Russian economy by at least 40% between now and 2020" (compared to 2007 figures) is, in the view of Guido Sacconi (PES, Italy), who chairs the committee, "an extremely interesting initiative".
