Brussels, 08/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - Between now and the end of 2009, the European Commission intends to put forward several proposals in the field of immigration and asylum: - at the end of November 2008: proposed amendments to the Eurodac and Dublin II regulations, and proposed amendment to the directive on reception conditions for asylum seekers; - February 2009: proposed creation of a European support bureau dealing with asylum policies; - April 2009: amendment to the directive on procedures for the granting and withdrawal of refugee status and on the so-called "qualification" directive concerning minimum standards to be fulfilled by people in order to obtain the statute of refugee or any other form of international protection within the EU; - Spring 2009: proposed directive on the legal admission into the EU of seasonal workers, payment for placement students, and the residency rights of foreign workers under transfer to a business situated within the EU; - June 2009: assessment of the partnerships for mobility (Cape Verde and Moldova); - Autumn 2009: proposal for the creation of a programme for the reinstallation of refugees within the EU; - late 2009/early 2010: proposal to create a coordination agency for major information systems (borders).
