24/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - International discussions on the security and stability modalities in Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia, included in the “6 point plan” accepted by Georgia and Russia on 12 August, will be launched on 15 October in Geneva but only at experts level, announced Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner, at the end of a meeting EU foreign ministers held with her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov on 23 September in the framework of the US General Assembly in New York. The French presidency of the EU proposed that the Geneva conference be co-chaired by the UN OSCE and the EU. UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon had already given his agreement to a triple presidency during dinner with Mr Sarkozy in New York. The OSCE also have its in principle agreement. (H.B/trans/rh)
