18/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday evening, services at the Council announced that the German diplomat, Hansjörg Haber, will lead the EU's observation mission in Georgia. The mission will have at least 200 members (mainly police officers) and will be in charge of controlling (as from 1 October) the agreement Moscow signed on 8 September, namely, the withdrawal of Russian troops from the zones adjacent to Southern Ossetia and Abkhazia (EUROPE 9740).
