Brussels, 10/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 10 September, the European Commission proposed to grant aid of €12.8 million to the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, after severe damage was caused by Hurricane Dean in August 2007. The aid from the EU Solidarity Fund will help meet the costs of emergency measures such as rescue services, the clean-up of disaster-stricken areas, and the restoration of basic infrastructure.
