Brussels, 28/08/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 28 August 2008, the Commission authorised three proposed mergers. The first concerns the acquisition of joint control of Landmark Communications Inc., which provides weather information and supplies weather radar systems, by radio-broadcaster NBC Universal Inc. and the investment firms Bain Capital Fund X L.P. controlled by Bain Capital Investors LLC, and Blackstone Capital Partners V L.P. controlled by The Blackstone Group L.P. All parties to the operation come under American law. The second clearance concerns acquisition of sole control of Salland Olie Holding B.V. by Delek Nederland B.V. Both companies are active in the wholesale trade and transport of petroleum products and the operation of petrol stations, under Dutch law. Finally, the Commission has granted clearance for the creation of a joint venture between the US manufacturer of industrial pumps and valves, Flowserve Corporation, by Linde AG, a German company that is active in industrial gases, development of natural gas plants and logistics. The new venture, Flowserve Compression, will make refuelling systems for natural gas vehicles. All three operations were examined under simplified merger review procedure. (C.D./transl.jl)
